A Garden That Finally Matched the Home
After investing in their forever home, the clients felt the garden no longer reflected the same level of care and attention. What had once been a practical family garden, dominated by play equipment during their sons' younger years, now lacked purpose and cohesion. They wanted a garden that felt connected to the architecture of the house, with beautiful planting, inviting spaces to relax and entertain, and a layout that better suited the next stage of family life.
Challenge
The introduction of a new Garden Room needed to feel naturally integrated without overwhelming the garden. Existing features, including an unattractive shed and rear boundary fence, drew the eye away from the rest of the space, while several well loved plants were struggling in unsuitable locations. The challenge was to create a garden that felt connected to the house, with a clearer layout, better flow and planting that softened the space throughout the year.
Solution
The design was intentionally simple, bringing structure, balance and purpose back to the garden. A clear route links the house with the Garden Room, whilst additional planting borders soften the space, providing colour and interest throughout the seasons. Raised planting beneath the mature trees overcomes difficult growing conditions and creates a greener, more attractive backdrop.
Outcome
The completed garden now feels like a natural extension of the home. Beautiful planting, practical spaces and a simple, balanced layout have transformed what was once a functional family garden into somewhere to relax, entertain and enjoy throughout the seasons.
